Hurricane Awareness Tour kicks off in San Antonio

The NOAA G-IV is used to collect, process and transmit vertical atmospheric soundings in the environment of a hurricane using a dropsonde, which is an instrument dropped from the aircraft carried by a parachute that transmits information about temperature, pressure and humidity.
