Lt. Gen. Marshall Webb, Air Education and Training Command commander, presented the Award for Civilian Achievement to Ty Reyes, 12th Flying Training Wing protocol chief, September 22, 2020 at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.

Ty was recognized for planning and executing several major events for AETC to include the 2019 Squadron Leadership Course, which consisted of five separate conferences with over 300 attendees and the 2019 Fall Civic Leader Conference held at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. He also streamlined office procedures resulting in a 30 percent decrease in processing time for reconciliation of Official Representation Fund packages.

"This award shows appreciation for some of the events I did at AETC as a civilian and I am thankful for that," said Ty. "This award meant even more coming from Lt. Gen. Webb since I really enjoyed working for him. Protocol is a very thankless job, but I am not in it for the recognition, I just like to help people out the best I can and make our events successful."

Ty is no stranger to AETC having served as the protocol superintendent as Master Sergeant previously.

"I retired from the Air Force in June of 2018 and then went back to AETC in February 2019 as a civilian. I am truly excited to be working now at the 12th FTW and am grateful for the opportunity to be the chief of protocol."
