Colonel Jeffrey S. Cameron

Colonel Jeffrey S. Cameron is the Deputy Commander of the 12th Flying Training Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. The 12 FTW is the Source of America's Airpower, delivering unrivaled airpower leaders for the future of the U.S. Air Force. The wing consists of three flying groups and a maintenance group spanning more than 1,400 miles from JBSA-Randolph, Texas, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado.

The 12 FTW is responsible for four single-source aviation pipelines, Pilot Instructor Training, Combat Systems Officer Training, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Pilot Indoctrination, and Basic Sensor Operator Qualification. The wing manages all airmanship programs for U.S. Air Force Academy cadets, and Introductory Flight Training for all Air Force officers scheduled to enter pilot and remotely piloted aircraft training. The wing also hosts an Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals program and conducts Electronic Warfare Training for the U.S. Air Force and multi-national forces.

Colonel Cameron received his commission in 2003 from the United States Air Force Academy and is a distinguished graduate of both the Air Command and Staff College and United States Naval War College. Additionally, Colonel Cameron served as a Professor of Joint Military Operations at the Naval War College where he taught Operational Level Warfare Theory to students from the United States Joint Force, Civilian Employees from across the United States Government and International Students from Ally and Partner Nations around the globe. He also instructed the Joint Land Air and Sea Strategic – Special Program to competitively selected students who networked across all senior Professional Military Education locations to work global complex military problems. 

Colonel Cameron served at Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, where he held several positions and led the Pacific Air Forces’ National Defense Strategy Integration Team which helped develop Indo-Pacific Command’s strategic framework for competing with peer adversaries below the threshold of armed conflict. Additionally, Colonel Cameron served as Chief, Future Operations Division, Air Force Global Strike Command where he led a 43-person team supporting the command’s role as Air Component to United States Strategic Command. His team oversaw Global Force Management, Future Operating Concepts, Exercise Integration, and Special Programs. 

He was assigned to the 9th Bomb Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, and accumulated 770 combat hours in the B-1B flown over Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Further, as a squadron commander, he served the 12th Operations Support Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph, Texas and oversaw support to Pilot Instructor Training, Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals, and the Air Force’s only Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft training program. 

Colonel Cameron spent time at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio where he served as an Acquisition Program Manager in the Joint Primary Aircrew Training System and KC-135 Simulator Programs. Additionally, while at Wright-Patterson, he deployed as Wing Executive Officer to the Commander, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. His final assignment at Wright-Patterson was Aide-de-Camp to the Aeronautical Systems Center (now Life Cycle Management Center) Commander.
