12th FTW goes the distance to honor Airmen, saves $30K

Annual award winners from the 12th Flying Training WIng's 479th Flying Training Group pose for a photo with 12th FTW leadership after the ceremony at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., January 29, 2013. Due to its geographically separated nature, members of the wing's 306th and 479th Flying Training Groups were not able to attend the wing's formal banquet held at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas January 25. Instead they were honored at individual events at their respective home stations, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo., and Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. on January 28 and 29. Typically all nominees are sent TDY to the ceremony, but having separate events saved the wing nearly $30,000.(Courtesy Photo by Master Sgt. Michelle Alexander)
